I'm Wagner, an independent software engineer, developer and problem solver.
I’ve been creating web experiences for over fifteen years, specialising in Ruby on Rails, modern JavaScript and Python. I work with teams of all sizes, from early stage startups to established SaaS to design, build, and maintain products that deliver real value.
I believe great software isn’t just about clever code, it’s about communication, clarity, and craftsmanship. When I work with a client, I focus on three things:
- Understanding your goals so I can make the right technical decisions.
- Writing maintainable code that your team can build on.
- Delivering consistently because reliability builds trust.
I’m comfortable embedding within existing teams, leading a small rebuild, or acting as a technical sounding board when you need one.
Technologies I use
- Ruby on Rails
- PostgreSQL, Redis, Sidekiq
- Hotwire, Stimulus, React
- RSpec, Capybara, CI/CD pipelines
- Python, FastAPI
- AI & ML Tools: OpenAI API, Claude, Hugging Face, TensorFlow, PyTorch
- Integrations AI-powered chat, recommendation engines, automated content workflows
I try to keep my stack simple and stable, focusing on solutions that are proven and easy to maintain.
I’m based in Dorset, UK, and work remotely with clients across the UK, US, and Europe. When I’m not coding, you’ll probably find me learning something new, writing about development, or enjoying a strong flat white.
What people I've worked with say
When we hand Wagner a build with a hard deadline - a congress opening, a live event - it ships. Complete, working, on the floor when the doors open.
Wagner was enjoyable to work with. He was able to quickly get up to speed, immediately wrapping his brain around problems and shipping clear code to fix them.
Wagner handled our blog migration end to end including migrating all content, URLs and redirects for SEO, and a custom Cloudflare Worker. All documented and deployed with zero drama.
